RMHD SCHOLARSHIPS

RMHD is dedicated to the support and development of Highland Dancing in Colorado. To increase the opportunities for dancers to participate in events both in and out of state, as well as advance their dancing career, RMHD provides financial scholarships to dancers who are actively involved in the organization. The following scholarships are available each year to active RMHD members:

Dancers are eligible for only one Bust a Ghillie or Dancing Star Scholarship per year (Oct 1 – Sept 30). The workshop instructor will select the recipient based on that day’s performance. Lauren Slack and her family are the sponsors of  RMHD’s Scottish Perseverance Award. For those who don’t know Lauren, she joined RMHD as a 5-year old dancer over 22 years ago. She took lessons from Ms. Cristy and had returned to Colorado after finishing college and was helping teach at the Denver & District Pipe Band practices. In January 2018 she was involved in a car crash on an icy highway that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. Lauren spent 9 months recovering in hospitals before she came home last October. Read here to learn more about Lauren’s remarkable recovery and her perseverance. RMHD is grateful to the Slack Family for their many years of support through the years!
